Good morning,
Happy National Marijuana Day!
Today marks April 20, or 4/20, a commercial holiday dedicated to smoking cannabis.
You might be asking how the strange holiday came to be. Well, it all started with five California high school students, known as the “Waldos,” in the 70s. Every day these students would smoke cannabis around 4:20 p.m. by a statue located at their school.
This later caught on, making April 20 the official date of celebration for smokers.
The reason why they did at 4:20 p.m. is because, for students, the school day ends around 3 p.m. which is followed by sports practices, which goes a little after 4 p.m.
