Cherry Bombs reinvent the meaning of baseball

The Cherry Bombs, an all women's baseball team here at Ohio University, is truly making history as they are the only women's baseball team in Ohio. The team has been around for four season now, and the creator of the team says she came up with the idea because of her love for baseball and women's sports. A player says she joined the Cherry Bombs because she liked that it's breaking gender boundaries and stereotypes in the sports world. Intramural sports offer an outlet for OU students

Intramural sports at Ohio University are a great way for students to play sports they enjoy and meet people, while not being too competitive. Students say they also enjoy it because it gives them an outlet from classes and school work. To play, just gather a group of friends and sign your team up, or you can sign up as a free agent and be placed randomly on a team. International Film Festival brings creativeness to Athens

Last week, the 52nd Athens International Film and Video Festival took place at the Athena Cinema. Throughout the week there were many different international as well as local films shown. The director of the festival says it's so special becuase it's rare to see so many short films in one place at one time. An Athena employee says she really enjoys the festival because it adds to the artsy culture of Athens. Engineering students work together to build Baja car

A team of engineering students are working together to build a Baja car, which is a vehicle made for off-road terrain. This experience is a chance for engineering students to take what they've learned in the classroom and also compete in the Society of Automotive Engineers Baja Competition. Not only is this an opportunity for students to participate in experiential learning, but it also is a direct pathway into a career for some students. Crowds pour in to Bagel Street Deli for Picklefest

Friday, hundreds of people packed Bagel Street Deli for its annual Picklefest, a pickle eating competition. Some say they signed up for fun to see what it's like, but others may not have performed to their best ability. The winner of Picklefest gets to create their own bagel on the menu, as well as pick a charity to donate their earnings too. Women entrepreneurs inspire young women in business

On Friday the Athena Cinema put on 'Show Her The Money', a documentary highlighting female investors and entrepreneurs in the venture capital world. The film specifically addresses how women get less then 2% of venture capital funding, and it follows four successful entrepreneurs who turn their dreams into a reality. A student involved in Ohio Women in Business says this was a great networking opportunity to meet other women in the business field. Dairy Barn holds Create to Donate art class to give back to community

The Dairy Barn Arts Center holds many different art classes, one of them being the Create to Donate class. This free class is open for all ages and any skill level. The class makes personalized clay bowls to donate to different charities. The Dairy Barn says this is a wonderful opportunity to create, learn and give back.
