Dr. Eddith Dashiell is retiring after 33 years of impactful work in journalism. For the past five years she's been the Director of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, and she was the first woman and African American to fill the role. Dr. D has inspired so many students over the years and she will continue to be an advocate of free speech and journalism. Black Alumni Reunion put on hold due to Senate Bill 1

The Black Alumni Reunion at Ohio University was put on hold due to recent changes in Ohio legislation with the passing of Senate Bill 1. This bill removes DEI programs from public institutions, meaning OU can not hold the reunion anymore. Regardless, alumni and students say they are still coming together in Athens from April 10-13 to celebrate each other, they will just not do it through the university. President of OU, Lori Stewart Gonzalez wrote she is thankful for the Planning Committee's willingness to reimagine this event. Take Back the Night is an annual event at OU to raise awareness for sexual and domestic violence, and it's a way to uplift survivors. The night was filled with speeches, artistic performances and it was capped off by a march up Court Street. Survivor advocates say Take Back the Night is so important in order to be there for survivors, as well as educating the public. Morgan's Message was created in 2020 by Morgan Rodgers' parents after she died by suicide in 2019. She was a Duke University lacrosse player, so her parents set the mission of de-stigmatizing mental health among athletes, and creating a community where they feel supported. Sustainability efforts make OU the top 'Green Campus' in Ohio

The Princeton Review ranked Ohio University as Ohio's top Green School in 2025, due to the university's sustainability and environmental efforts. OU was the only school in Ohio to be ranked in the top 50 list of green universities. The Office of Health Promotion at Ohio University aims to provide students with resources for mental health, specifically through The Bandana Project. They have a team of peer educators to help support and empower students through their mental health journeys. The office also has many other resources for challenges such as violence prevention and alcohol and drug reduction.
