Cool Digs on West Union St. has officially closed due to construction on the Lostro building. The construction has resulted in the sidewalk on that side of the street to be closed since August, forcing people to the other side of the street. The "Brake for Breakfast" event takes place on the first Wednesday of October every year. This is the event's fourth year in Athens, and they've had major success. They offer a free breakfast, free informational packets about cancer and they even offer mammograms on site. The event draws hundreds of volunteers wanting to make a difference and nearly 1,000 cars drive through.
