Cool Digs joins growing closures of Athens businesses

Cool Digs on West Union St. has officially closed due to construction on the Lostro building. The construction has resulted in the sidewalk on that side of the street to be closed since August, forcing people to the other side of the street. Due to this, the traffic to three businesses was almost nonexistent, forcing them to shut down. Owner of Cool Digs, another small business owner and an Athens Resident express their frustrations about the closing of small businesses due to construction. Local business closures dim Athens' charm

Over the past year, multiple small businesses in Athens have closed, leaving current business owners worried and community members disappointed. Pedal for Pink brings a new breath to breast cancer awareness

The second annual Pedal for Pink event put on by the Ohio Pink Ribbon Fund was held Saturday, October 12th. "Brake for Breakfast" supports breast cancer awareness

The "Brake for Breakfast" event takes place on the first Wednesday of October every year. This is the event's fourth year in Athens, and they've had major success. They offer a free breakfast, free informational packets about cancer and they even offer mammograms on site. The event draws hundreds of volunteers wanting to make a difference and nearly 1,000 cars drive through.
