Athens County Sheriff Pat Kelly has decided not to contest the preliminary decision by an Ohio Supreme Court-appointed commission to recommend his temporary suspension from duty.
The three judges appointed by Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor to determine whether Athens County Sheriff Pat Kelly should be suspended from office have come to a decision, but it won’t be made public for the time being.
Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine moved Tuesday for the Ohio Supreme Court to begin suspension proceedings against Athens County Sheriff Pat Kelly, who is charged with multiple felonies “relating to (his) administration of, or conduct in the performance of” a sheriff’s duties, according to court documents.
