Several OU students joined historic Selma march

A group of Ohio University students joined the historic Civil Rights march, led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. The march eventually led to the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Former university president Vernon Alden praised OU participants in civil rights march

Vernon Alden, former president of Ohio University, wrote to The Post in 1965 supporting students who joined the Civil Rights march in Selma, Alabama. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the march.
