Editorial: Senate's latest drama typifies bigger problem

Wednesday night, we followed the many twists and turns of the Student Senate meeting, which was supposed to end with a new vice president and a sigh of relief for senate members. Many of you tuned in to the goings on too, if the reaction on social media was any indication of interest.

Post Editorial: Bobcats, reflect on OU's history this MLK Day

During several days from December 1959 to January 1960, Martin Luther King Jr. attended a conference at Ohio University, addressing the crowd on several occasions. Three years later, he led the famous March on Washington. Only five years after that, he was assassinated while standing on his hotel’s second-floor balcony in Memphis. Forty-five years after his death, the effects of his legacy are still felt on our campus and throughout the nation.

You can call it a New Year’s resolution, spring (semester) cleaning or, simply, a minor redesign, but we’ve made the decision to spruce up the newspaper’s appearance this semester. The changes are inconspicuous to most readers — changed fonts, a different sports rail and unique spacing on our opinion page — but together they change the way you read our newspaper.

Post Editorial: Southall failed to lead students, represent school

As of Sunday, former Ohio University Student Senate President Nick Southall’s likeness has been removed from a collage of placards bearing the names and images of senate’s executive staff outside its third floor Baker Center office space. Anna Morton, though not officially sworn in as president, has already moved up a rung from her vice-presidential post, becoming the de facto president.

About two months ago, during Homecoming Weekend, a male Ohio University student performed oral sex on a female student on Court Street. A crowd of people—those who, on any other weekend night, avoid eye contact while walking hurriedly by street performers and grilled cheese fundraisers—stopped, stared, gawked at the show.

While many Ohio University students head home to gorge themselves on a Thanksgiving feast next week, those students on a meal plan who are staying behind for the break will hardly have the chance to indulge in such a meal.
