A six-inch waterline burst beneath Richland Avenue around 7 a.m. Tuesday, Andy Stone, city engineer and director of public works, said.
The line broke in two places and was repaired just before noon.
Stone said the pipe might have burst because of its age.
"The old lines are under pressure all the time, and sometimes they burst," Stone said.
Stone said the pipe was repaired while maintaining water pressure, and that a boil order would not be issued.
