We held endorsement interviews for several of the candidates and published our picks on Friday. Our staff reported on several of the races, published an election guide last Tuesday and provided live updates on what the precincts were reporting Tuesday night.
In a town as small as Athens, we’re grateful to be able to report on all the aspects of a campaign — how much money was raised, how many people turned up at the polls, who those votes elected and which issues they endorsed.
For the younger reporters and photographers, it’s an opportunity to get exposure to reporting elections — a skill they’re likely to need somewhere down the line. It’s also an exhilarating night that our team looks forward to each year.
