The Athens Police Department arrested a man early Friday morning after he allegedly threatened and assaulted residents on East State Street with a weapon.
Randy Sidders, 35, of Athens, was charged with felonious assault and was taken to Southeast Ohio Regional Jail, according to an APD news release.
Officers responded to two active burglaries around Stewart Street and Rufus Street. They both had similar stories: the man was pretending to know the residents, but no force or violence was reported.
Officers found Sidders just before 7 a.m. near Walmart on East State Street, according to the news release.
