Senior forward Bryan Lubin signed an amateur tryout agreement Tuesday with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs of the Southern Professional Hockey League.
Lubin — a center from Commerce, Michigan — spent the last four years in Athens, where he scored 34 goals and 36 assists. He appeared in 120 games for Ohio and was a part of the 2017 national championship runner-up team.
“I was in contact with (Dan) Bremner and (Michael) Harris about furthering my career after the tournament ended,“ Lubin said. “They offered me the ATO, and I took it.”
Bremner and Harris are former Ohio assistant coaches. They both coached under Sean Hogan during the 2017-18 season. Harris also spent four season as a player at Ohio.
Lubin is the fourth player to go professional under Hogan following Harris, Jake Faiella and Alex Vasquez. He sought out Faiella at the end of Ohio’s seasons as the two spent three years together in Athens.
His final game as a Bobcat was in a 3-2 loss to Iowa State in the American Collegiate Hockey Association National Tournament in Frisco, Texas. The senior didn’t score any points in either of the Bobcats’ two games in that tournament.
The Rail Yard Dawgs (27-23-4) have two games left in the regular season, after which they will start their journey in the SPHL playoffs.
