Senior Class Council planned on having executive elections on May 6, but no votes were cast because only one party applied.
The new council is Ryan Mick, president; Pamela Ogilvy, vice president; Kara Bauman, treasurer; and Jennifer Roberts, secretary. They were required to have petitions with 75 signatures to apply and a 2.5 GPA, Mick said.
The new executive staff sent out applications this week to recommended seniors from each college to serve on senior class council, he said.
The council asks the deans of each college every year to suggest students they think would be good student leaders, former vice president of senior class council Steve Matsko said. Last year, they did not get a lot of feedback from the deans, so they went out and found students who were interested in council and were all-around good people.
Although council only requires one representative from each college, Mick said he hopes to have two because there will be more responsibilities with the bicentennial year being 2004.
"We want to grow council so there is more student voice in council because there will be more to do with the bicentennial," Mick said.
Applications are due June 13, and depending on how many applicants they receive will determine how many representatives there are from each college, Mick said.
"We are looking for student leaders, people who have proven to have good representation for the senior class," he said. "We want a well-rounded group to bring more opinions to make accurate decisions based on the needs of the senior class."
