Ohio has named Barry Schutte the new head coach of its ACHA Division 1 hockey team.
It was uncertain who would be taking over the head coaching position after it was announced that former coach Lionel Mauron would be leaving the team ahead of the 2024-25 season.
Schutte notably leaves the Associate Head Coaching position at Miami University, a school with an NCAA Division 1 hockey program. In the 2023-24 season, Miami had a 7-26-3 record with notable wins against No. 13 Arizona State and No. 10 Western Michigan. Before he was with Miami, Schutte spent nine seasons with Bowling Green, another NCAA hockey program. In his time with BG, Schutte helped secure a collective 171-154-44 record over nine years.
