It will be the first meet Ohio has hosted this spring.
For the first time this season, Ohio will host a tournament. Instead of the constant commutes to North and South Carolina, the Bobcats will host an event.
The Ohio Cherry Blossom Invitational will take place Saturday at Pruitt Field.
“We’ve had a busy couple of weeks. It's good to get back to a normal schedule,” coach Clay Calkins said. “It’s a lot easier to prepare when you take travel out of the equation.”
That is not to say the Bobcats have not been performing well, coming off 15 top-10 finishes last weekend at the Winthrop Invitational.
Another benefit to running at home is the atmosphere, Calkins said.
“We bring in some good crowds,” Calkins said.
He said the atmosphere will be great this weekend, as teams are from nearby schools, such as as Marshall, West Virginia, Wright State and Morehead State.
Coupled with proximity, it is Moms Weekend at Ohio University.
Calkins looks forward to the added fans.
“It's always nice to run with family and friends there, hope that improves our performance,” Calkins said.

Both of those factors look to add to the crowd at the track Saturday.
“We’ve been performing well, but we can always improve,” Calkins said.
