Former Ohio football player Alphonso Lewis was arrested Saturday for violating Ohio’s open container laws.
Lewis, a linebacker and Altoona, Pa. native, was charged with a minor misdemeanor for having "an open container of beer or intoxicating liquor in a public place." He did not appear in court as scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Monday.
Lewis started each of Ohio’s games last season as a redshirt senior and ranked second on the team with 61 tackles. He was also named to the Mid-American Conference third team.
Lewis recorded at least 20 tackles in each of his four active seasons for the Bobcats.
