Cloud 9 spa event to bring 'R&R' for stressed-out OU students

Complimentary manicures and pedicures will be offered in the middle of Baker University Center Friday evening.

Cloud 9 is an event put on by the student programmers in the Campus Involvement Center to give students a relaxing atmosphere in which to wind-down, said Samantha Caulfield, student public relations coordinator for the Campus Involvement Center.

There will be paraffin treatments, a special waxing regiment used on the hands and feet to keep them soft. Additionally, there will be a meditation area and a yoga room for students looking for a bit of exercise and reflection.

“Cloud 9 is for everyone that needs some R&R time. We came up with the idea for this calming event because we’re students ourselves, and think everyone deserves some relaxation mid-semester,” said Katie Cameron, Campus Involvement Center student programmer and a senior studying journalism.

What about tense shoulders? Massage therapists will be present to give students several types of massages from aqua to calf and foot massages. The Involvement Center will offer hot tea for participants.

Students will also be able to use scalp tinglers and stress balls.

“I plan on going because my schedule has been really hectic these past few weeks. This event is the perfect place to take my mind off of all the stress that I have been having lately, and I cannot wait to get a nice, relaxing massage,” said Emily Henry, a freshman studying retail and fashion merchandising.
