Ohio University President Duane Nellis and Executive Vice President and Provost Chaden Djalali will open Faculty Senate’s first meeting of the academic year.
At the Monday night meeting, Faculty Senate Chair Joe McLaughlin will go over member resignations and replacements, statuses of resolutions, a summary of summer activities and the Ohio Faculty Council Election.
McLaughlin will also bring forward a second reading of a resolution to clarify the word “days” in the Faculty Handbook.
The agenda questions “whether the number of days allowed for the stages of procedures are ‘calendar days,’ ‘business days,’ or ‘days,’” according to the resolution.
Faculty Senate members will vote on the resolution regarding clarification of the word “days,” in which it shall refer to the calendar days unless otherwise specified. Breaks such as summer and spring will not be counted towards appeals and processes; and if a deadline falls on a day when the university is not open, it will be assumed to fall on the next day the university is open, according to the resolution.
Faculty Senate will work with the Provost’s office to specify the word as needed.
The meeting will be held in Walter Hall 235 at 7:10 p.m.
