Ohio fought hard but came up short in Toledo

The Bobcats lost a Mid-American Conference meet against Toledo this weekend.

Ohio swimming and diving competed in a close meet Saturday but wasn’t able to get the edge and fell 151-147 to Mid-American Conference opponent Toledo.

Junior Addison Ferguson had a strong meet by setting a Toledo pool record on the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.56 seconds.

Also, as part of the 200 medley relay squad, Ferguson, junior Haley Clark, senior Tori Bagan and sophomore Laura Dawson placed first with a time of 1:43.67. Ohio had another team of four place third in that event.

The positive streak continued into the 200 butterfly in which sophomore Dawson and freshman Elena Patz took first and second, respectively. Dawson finished at the 2:05.88 mark and Patz at the 2:07.46 mark.

Clark placed second and freshman Liz Murphy took third in the 50 freestyle. Clark finished in 24.27 seconds and Murphy in 24.56 seconds.

Continuing in the freestyle category, redshirt junior Bianca Hauzer finished third in the 1,000 freestyle in 10:29.70. Last, in the 200 freestyle, sophomore Josie Barker and freshman Katie Lemen finished second and third, respectively, with times of 1:55.90 and 1:56.66.

In the diving competition, freshman Karissa Conner placed second in the three-meter diving event scoring 230.48 and placing second in the one-meter event as well with a final score of 218.18.

Ohio has fallen to 0-2 against MAC teams.
