Ohio wrestlers are rallying together to save Cleveland State program, which will be discontinued in 2016.
Ohio wrestlers had strong reactions to the news that Cleveland State’s program will be cut in the fall of 2016.
Cleveland State will add lacrosse in favor of wrestling starting in the Spring of 2017, per a report from Cleveland.com.
Thousands of tweets are being sent by NCAA wrestling supporters — including Ohio wrestlers — with the hashtag “#SaveCSUWrestling” are coming in through Twitter in support of saving the program.

“We're all competitors against each other but we're also family,” former All-American Cody Walters tweeted after the news was announced.
Other Ohio wrestlers, including Andrew Romanchik, Phil Wellington, Spartacus Chino, Harrison Hightower, Kagan Squire, and former Ohio All-American Jeremy Johnson also voiced their support.

The Bobcats have faced Cleveland State each of the three past years. Ohio was victorious, 25-15, in its most recent matchup with the Vikings in February.
“Real talk its a shame they are closing Cleveland state wrestling..young men were promise something and that dream is gone,” Ohio assistant coach Germane Lindsey tweeted.
With the program being cut, several Cleveland State wrestlers, especially underclassmen, could be looking to transfer with Ohio being a potential landing spot, as 13 of Cleveland State’s 26 wrestlers are Ohio natives.
