Ohio University announced another change in its administrative leadership with the appointment of David Bambrey as interim assistant vice president of alumni relations and interim executive director of the Ohio University Alumni Association, a position which went into effect July 1.

Bambrey replaced Jennifer Neubauer, who resigned from her position and will return to her alma mater at the University of Illinois, where she is set to become president of the UI Alumni Association and associate vice chancellor for alumni relations. Her departure from OU was effective June 30. According to The News-Gazette in Champaign, Illinois, Neubauer will make history as the first woman to lead the university’s alumni association on a permanent basis.

A graduate of Washington and Jefferson College, Bambrey came to OU as director of campus relations in 2014 and was promoted about a year and a half later to the role of senior director of campus relations. According to a news release, Bambrey “works closely with the various college units, student programming, diversity initiative and academic-based societies” in that position.

Prior to taking a job in Athens, Bambrey held multiple roles with the Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence at the University of Pittsburgh Katz Graduate School of Business, including a more recent one as a management consultant.

With an interim leader in place until a more permanent replacement is announced, the university prepares to take on yet another national search.

On his first day in office, OU President Duane Nellis named David Descutner — who was OU’s interim president following the departure of Roderick McDavis — interim executive vice president and provost. Descutner now fills the position left vacant in May by Pam Benoit, former executive vice president and provost.

Additionally, Bryan Benchoff, who served as vice president for University Advancement and president/CEO of the OU Foundation, announced in April he would be stepping down, leaving Tom Davis to serve as the vice president of advancement and interim president/CEO of the foundation.

Assistant Dean of Students Jamie Patton announced in June that he had accepted a position as assistant vice president for student affairs — Diversity and Inclusion at California Polytechnic State University. Patton’s time at OU is scheduled to come to an end July 17.
