Former OU student escapes police on the rooftops of Athens

Correction appended.

It turns out Athens has its own friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

After a presumably wild night at Stephen’s, 66 N. Court St., one man went on an adventure on the rooftops of Athens on Thursday night — and escaped the cops.

The person, who was last enrolled at Ohio University in fall 2014, scaled the side of the bar, walked across the cross beams on the patio and climbed a tree to get away from the police. But he didn’t stop there.

He traced his route back to the beams and got on the roof of a nearby house. The police followed and the fire department was called. When it looked like the guy would finally climb off the roof, he surprised everyone by leaping onto Stephen’s roof and escaping. It is unknown if he was eventually caught by authorities.

One person caught it all on Snapchat:

This dude will be a legend at OU, from now until the end of time.

Some other Twitter users reacted to the footage:

Clarification: This article has been updated to clarify that it has not been confirmed if the student was caught.

Correction: A previous version of the headline incorrectly identified the man as an Ohio University student. He was last enrolled at OU in fall 2014. The headline has been updated to reflect the most accurate information.
