Mike Canterbury will be taking the oath of office before next Tuesday’s city council meeting.
As Chris Knisely settles in to her new position as president of Athens City Council, city Democrats selected a replacement for the at-large seat she’s occupied since 2008.
Mike Canterbury was appointed last night by the Democratic Central Committee to fill the at-large council seat vacated by Knisely.
The central committee’s members held two votes. In the second vote, Canterbury won the majority and was appointed to his new position, Knisely said.
Canterbury will be taking the oath of office before next Tuesday’s city council meeting.
“I think he’ll be very diligent about filling the position,” Knisely said.
