Swimming and Diving: Ohio sits in second to last after day two at the MAC Championships

With the second day of the Mid-American Conference Championships complete, Ohio is slowly running out of time to climb the leaderboards.

After placing sixth on the first day of competition, Ohio dropped to seventh out of eight teams on Friday and has an overall score of 240 points. Akron still leads all MAC competitors.

The Bobcats started the final heats with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, as junior Tori Bagan, sophomores Hayley Clark and Addison Ferguson and freshman Carrie Dukes concluded with a time of 1:41.55.

Ferguson was a bright spot for Ohio, though, as she took home first place in the 100-yard fly and 100-yard backstroke finals for the Bobcats with times of 53.48 and 53.10, respectively.

Ohio did not have any swimmers compete in the 400 individual medley and 200-yard freestyle finals, because no Bobcat swimmers registering during preliminaries.

In the final event of the night, Ohio finished fifth in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 7:35.43.

Ohio will look to make up for lost time on Saturday, the last day of the MAC championship, with Williams seeking first place in the 1650 freestyle.

The Bobcats will also finish out the final day of competition with competitions a trio of 200-yard races in backstroke, breaststroke and fly events. Ohio will also compete in the 100-yard freestyle and 400-yard freestyle relay events.
