Ohio took control early and held it against visiting Division II Delaware on Friday, catching a blowout win 11-0. Scott Boyd shined in the net for the Bobcats, totaling 15 saves and getting the win.
The seventh ranked Bobcats started strong with a four-goal onslaught in the first period. The barrage began with Diego Breckenridge's first goal of the season, in his first home game of the year since returning from injury. Breckenridge would later need helped off the ice after suffering an injury in the second period.
Soon after Breckenridge broke onto the scoreboard, Patrick Spellacy scored to put the Bobcats ahead 2-0. Paul Sergi and Drew Crandall also scored goals before the period was over.
In the second period, Logan Pfeffer continued to pour on the damage for Ohio, with Joe Breslin and Michael Palasics also chipping in later in the period.
Spellacy began the third period with his second goal of the game, followed less than ten seconds later with a Liam Geither goal that made the score 9-0 in favor of the Bobcats. A second series of back-to-back goals came later in the period when Pfeffer's second of the goal was followed by Riley Moore's third of the season.
Ohio outshot Delaware 63-15 in the game. The Bobcats will take on D-III Adrian tomorrow night at 7:30pm.
