Under rainy conditions, Ohio was swept by Central Michigan Friday, losing its first conference series of the season.
The Bobcats dropped game one of the series, 8-1, after the Chippewas scored seven runs in two innings — blemishing Ohio's 2-0 conference record going in.
Junior Amanda Dalton led the Bobcats (9-20) offensively, garnering one run in three at-bats.
Against the Chippewas, freshman pitcher Sydney Compston sacrificed four runs in 0.2 of the first inning before Lauren McClary gave up seven hits and four runs the rest of the game.
In game two, the Bobcats lost 14-3 after the Chippewas (12-15) earned nine runs in the top of the fourth.
Ohio's pitching woes continued, as senior Kaylin Clarke (4-4) pitched three innings and surrendered six earned runs and eight hits.
Centerfielder Dakota Pyles was a bright spot for the Bobcats, however, obtaining two RBI and a hit at two at-bats.
The Bobcats will return to the Ohio Softball Field Saturday in a two-game series against Eastern Michigan.
