Kickin’ with Kyra: Suki Waterhouse deserves more hype

English actress and singer Suki Waterhouse released her new album, “Memoir of a Sparklemuffin,” Sept. 13. She explores many different emotions of love, hate and sadness through the multitude of tracks. There is a range of intense tunes as well as mellow ones, and she portrays her creativity through words and the art surrounding it. Waterhouse is an artist who deserves more recognition for how she portrays her talent well and brings her creative vision into all of her work

Waterhouse got her start in modeling and acting in the U.K. before she demonstrated her musical skills. She’s been in films such as “Love, Rosie” and “The Bad Batch. She can also be seen in the television show “Daisy Jones in the Six,” an adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel of the same name. She has portrayed a variety of roles, whether she is a girl who is in love or a musician who wants to be a rockstar. She was actually able to be both in “Daisy Jones and the Six” while playing keyboardist Karen Sirko. No matter who she is, though, Waterhouse embraces every character and is easy to love on the screen.

Waterhouses’s song, “Good Looking,” circled through social media and has a slow and loving feel to it. The song gave her music career a quick push forward, and she has since gained rapid attention; she opened for Taylor Swift on several Eras Tour stops. She is now going on her own Sparklemuffin tour, which will officially begin Oct. 17 in Houston, Texas.

Her relationship with actor Robert Pattinson has also secured a good amount of attention, and the two have recently welcomed their daughter. They made their first public appearance in July 2018, and their child was born last March. The couple has been seen at many events together, showing affection toward one another.

Waterhouse’s creativity is demonstrated in not only her songs but also the art that accompanies them. Her music videos and album covers have a dream-like fantasy feel that entrances the audience. For instance, in her music video for “Model, Actress, Whatever,“ she is battling with a sword and dressed in armor while flying through the sky like a rocket.

She sings from a greenhouse in the music video for “OMG switching ethereally from color to black and white then back to color. Both “Model, Actress, Whatever” and “OMG" were singles released prior to “Memoir of a Sparklemuffin," and they each have a very different sound. These music videos demonstrate what it looks like to be inside Waterhouse’s mind.

Her fashion sense is another piece of what makes her a great artist. Whether in videos, on stage or at events, she continues her whimsical and confident vibes wherever she goes. She can be seen on stage in long, dreamy dresses while singing songs that align with her outfits. Waterhouse is also seen channeling more edge in wearing fringe or high-thigh boots. Her outfits embrace her visions beyond just her songs, and she knows how to stand out.

Suki Waterhouse is a bold artist with songs that transport you into her emotions. Whether she’s singing about being happy, being in love or being betrayed, she provides all her raw emotions in lyrics and melodies. She gives deeper insight through her artistic visuals and acting. Waterhouse is a bigger talent than many may realize.
