Athens City School District, or ACSD, announced Monday schools will be closed until Sept. 7 due to lack of transportation.
ACSD initially closed last Thursday through Aug. 31, according to a previous Post report.
The extended closure is due to six ACSD transportation employees quarantining due to positive COVID-19 results or exposure to COVID-19. A seventh employee is also unable to drive because of an unrelated injury.
The announcement informed teachers to expect an email invitation to Zoom meetings Tuesday morning. The meeting will be to discuss plans for this week as well as plans for any future COVID-19 outbreaks.
