Have you ever been so mad that you struck your roommate with a shirt?
It’s not uncommon for roommates to have their differences — but one argument between two students over the weekend resulted in an altercation of a softer variety.
An Ohio University student was arrested early Sunday morning after his roommate reported he had struck him with a shirt.
OUPD received a report around 1:40 a.m. that two roommates were having a quarrel at South Green’s Hoover House.
A male stated his roommate had struck him with his shirt and threatened to punch him.
An officer was unable to verify if the suspect had actually struck his roommate, but noted the marks on the roommate’s neck were consistent with those a towel or a shirt might make.
The suspect was arrested for menacing after the officer interviewed both the roommates and a witness. The suspect was also charged with marijuana paraphernalia after he was found to have drug paraphernalia in his room.
Police were also dispatched to East Green’s Tiffin Hall Sunday for a call regarding an intoxicated female. Upon arrival, police saw the female sitting on a wooden chair. Friends of the intoxicated female said she had woken up on their floor and had urinated on a carpet. The police report said she could not identify the building she was in when speaking to emergency responders.
The female was issued a citation for disorderly conduct by intoxication and transported to OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital.
Saturday night, police charged a woman with underage consumption of alcohol after she was found passed out in the women’s restroom during the Joe Nichols concert at OU’s Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium. The report said the female had a “very strong odor of an intoxicating beverage coming from her person and breath along with vomit.”
Additionally, OUPD received a report Friday from an OU employee regarding money missing from a safe in Jefferson Market. That case is under investigation, according to the report.
Sunday, the Athens Police Department responded to a burglary report on North Lancaster Street. According to the report, $2 in change was taken from the residence and a door was broken. Police valued the door’s damages at $20.
