Fresh Find Friday: Crash talks about self-destruction and taking control of your life; Tones and I returns; Still Woozy and Remi Wolf team up with a song on friendship

Remi Wolf released their new single “Pool;” Dance Monkey creator Tones and I released their first single of 2022; and the long-awaited CRASH album from Charli XCX is finally here.

While everyone has their favorite genre of music, we’ve made a playlist that will appeal to any mood or preference. Below are new songs that are perfect for walking to class, working out at the gym, sitting around in your dorm or cranking out those last-minute papers. Here are five new songs to get you through the week:

“Pool” by Still Woozy, Remi Wolf

Meeting your best friend at the pool and telling everything to each other is the narrative of “Pool,” the dreamy instrumental places you back in time when you made friends at the pool as a kid. Lyrics, “I told my friend about last night/ Risking my relationships, and people I can’t resist.” This is further explained in the music video that accompanies the song having Remi Wolf and Still Woozy having a blast on a gorgeous grassy landscape and jumping high in the air. You can watch the video here.

“So Unimportant” by Ethan Gruska, Bon Iver

Justin Vernon, best known as Bon Iver and Ethan Gruska, are best known for their production work with Phoebe Bridgers, having admired each other's work for the longest time and planning on making something out of this long-distance partnership due to the pandemic. In March of 2020, they started sending each other files and created, "So Unimportant," which was the first thing thrown on the wall, "Ethan's musicality and touch have magic in it / We have not met in person but have exchanged the longest flirtiest texts in history," Vernon said about the partnership. "So Unimportant" is released through Sylvan Esso's Psychic Hotline label single series.

“CYBAH” by Syd, Lucky Daye

CYBAH is the acronym for “Could You Break A Heart” that teleports us to the 80s with its sweet-sounding synths, bass and drums, ultimately complementing the track’s smooth vocals. CYBAH will be appearing on Syd’s upcoming album Broken Hearts Club, which seems to be motivated by the singer’s private life. “I joined a club because all of my friends went through similar experiences. It was like a rite of passage,” Syd said in an interview. Broken Hearts Club is expected to release on April 8.

”Eyes Don’t Lie” by Tones And I

Tones and I, best known for her hit single Dance Monkey, returns with her first single in 2022, “Eyes Don’t Lie.” Since the release of her debut album, Welcome To The Madhouse, has debuted at no. 1 on Australia’s ARIA Albums Chart. Tones and I elaborates on her new track in an interview saying “'Eyes Don’t Lie' is written about a significant loss of someone/something.” The Music video reflects those themes of loss and being lonely. You can watch the video here.

“Crash (The Album)” by Charli XCX

Charli XCX's new album Crash is her first album since 2020, which brings back her past music and feels, "I've arrived at this place where I'm incorporating all of the different things I've done in the past into one body of work," Charli said in an interview. Themes of liberation, self-destruction and power are all brought to you in nostalgic samples from the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. While that all may be true, the end message is no matter how many times you crash, it's still worth it to be behind the wheel of your own life.
