2015 Outstanding Emerging Entrepreneurship Program Award presented to OU Center for Entrepreneurship.
Ohio University’s Center for Entrepreneurship was recognized for succeeding in entrepreneurial education and business development.
The United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship gave the center its “2015 Outstanding Emerging Entrepreneurship Program Award,” according to a university news release.
The association gives this award annually to universities that have worked to develop a high-quality program to teach future entrepreneurs. The award is typically given to programs that have launched, just re-launched or established new and unique concentrations or degree programs.
The United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship is known as a leading association in entrepreneurship education that has graded programs since 1990, according to the release.
“Like the entrepreneurs we serve, this award reflects the big push we have all made,” said Lynn Gellermann, executive director of the Center for Entrepreneurship, in the release. “Since 2011, the center has invested in the hopes and dreams of faculty, students, startups and the community. The outcomes are impactful, shared and changing peoples’ lives every day.”
OU’s Center for Entrepreneurship is a partnership between the College of Business and the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs, designed to provide entrepreneurial education, business assistance services and investment capital for start-up businesses and entrepreneurs, according to the center’s website.
The center joins previous winners such as the University of North Carolina and Kansas State University.
“The Excellence in Entrepreneurship Education Awards are extraordinarily competitive,” said Luke Pittaway, director of the Center for Entrepreneurship, in the release. “It is an honor to be recognized out of the hundreds of colleges and universities represented by the (association) and reflects the great strides we’ve made in increasing the reach of entrepreneurial education at Ohio University.”
