Forward Jack Glen (24) gets ready to face off against Kent State at Bird Arena in Athens, Ohio Dec. 8, 2023

Hockey: Ohio prepares to take on 8-0 Jamestown

Ohio is off to a stellar start this season, at least in terms of gameplay. The team has swept both of its series against Kent State and Maryville, with plenty of rookies breaking out of the mold to score their first goals at Ohio.

Maintenance issues at Bird Arena are preventing the Bobcats from playing their full schedule and forcing them to play only away games, denying them from the raucous environment of Bird Arena when it's filled to the brim with fans. That energy could have proven useful, as Ohio gears up to take on Jamestown on its home ice, a team that is currently 8-0.

Here is everything you need to know before the game on Thursday:

Series Information:

Opponent: Jamestown (8-0)

Date and Time: October 17, 8 p.m. EST

Location: John L. Wilson Arena, Jamestown, ND

History:

The last time the Bobcats faced the Jimmies was in 2023 in the ACHA tournament. A goal in the eleventh hour by Sam Turner propelled the Bobcats to the ACHA semifinals with a 4-3 victory. This game only proves that Jamestown will certainly be a formidable opponent at this point in the season.

Player to Watch:

Darius Makse, a freshman forward from British Columbia, scored five goals in Jamestown’s swept series against Iowa State. With four assists and another goal to add to that tally, his 10 points in eight games prove that he is an aggressive player who could pose an offensive threat to Ohio.
