Athens is ready for its first and only non-conference game of the season against Marietta on Friday.
The Bulldogs (1-1, 1-1 TVC-Ohio) have a lot of ground to make up after their 28-20 loss to Vinton County last week. The loss came as a shock to Athens — who had maintained a 12-win streak over the Vikings since joining the TVC-Ohio in 2008.
Friday is a chance for the Bulldogs to correct their course. Marietta is 0-2 and was blown out 28-6 by Warren in its first game. If Athens pulls out a win, it can bolster its record as well as give itself some breathing room between TVC-Ohio opponents.
