The Post's editorial board has decided where they stand on the issues and candidates.
This year, the executive editors of The Post interviewed the candidates for several positions on Tuesday’s ballot. After much discussion about the candidates, we have decided to endorse Jennifer Cochran, Aaron Dauterman and Pat McGee for Athens City Council, Todd Grace for Municipal Court judge and Steve Patterson for Athens mayor.
We have also weighed in on the issues on the ballot and have chosen to support Issues 1 and not support Issue 2 and 3.
We would like to thank everyone who we interviewed for endorsements and wish the candidates the best of luck during the election.
The Races
- Mayor: He's running unopposed, but Steve Patterson still earned The Post's endorsement.

- Issue 1: The more transparent our political processes are, the better.
- Issue 2: GOP-led "bullying" should not be condoned.
- Issue 3: Despite need for marijuana legalization, monopolies shouldn't be tolerated.
