It’s crafting time.
The “Marti and Stewie” craft program has been in place since the late 1990s. Supplies are provided by the coordinators, Cathy Murphy and Kellee Steffen, to create items such as OU letters and peace signs.
The program was originally started in the 1998-99 academic year and was located in Jeff Hall. Now, the program is held outside West 82 in Baker University Center.
“We do things for Mom’s Weekend and other things on campus,” said Steffen said, a graduate student in the college student personnel program.
Since Baker Center closes at midnight on Thursdays, students should arrive as close to the starting time of 9 p.m. as possible.
“I like that it’s a really good stress reliever,” said Sydnie Chapman, a sophomore studying exercise physiology. “I have all this stuff hanging up in my room now.”
The event has a Twitter account, @MartiANDStewie, and a Facebook page. Anyone interested in helping with the program can email Steffen at ks241007@ohiou.edu.
Attendees will make pop-up and paper bag scrapbooks at Thursday’s event.
“We get a lot of girls on our floor to come, so it’s fun,” said Gabbie Mayer, a freshman studying exercise physiology.
