Athens city residents interested in crafting local environmental policy have an opportunity to serve on the Athens Environment and Sustainability Commission.
Democratic 4th Ward Councilwoman Christine Fahl announced at Monday’s regular Athens City Council meeting a current member of the commission will move and need to be replaced this month.

, didn't specify which of the five current members would be replaced but said that the change would take place “sooner than later."
She said that the current member would move in mid-June, giving city council two weeks to find a replacement.
That is the second change in the membership of the commission to take place since last month.

At the same meeting, council members appointed Athens High School Biology teacher Meredith Price-Mullins and Ohio University graduate student Tess Finney to fill these new positions.
Athens city code requires that the new replacement for the commission be nominated by council members, but Fahl recommended that anyone who is interested in serving contact her or clerk of council Debbie Walker.
The commission meets the first Tuesday of every month at 5:15 p.m in the City Building.
