Many rumors are going around about who will play whom in the Marvel Universe. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was rumored to play several roles in the universe, including Guardians of the Galaxy’s Star-Lord or Peter Quill, the title character of Marvel’s Ant-Man and even the Marvel character Dr. Strange, but
Gordon-Levitt has denied being cast as the roles thus far.
Kevin Fiege, the president of production at Marvel Studios, has sneaked around the issue as well.
“Well, sometimes it’s because we are legitimately talking, and sometimes it’s just because he’s a prominent actor out there now. And lots of rumors surround prominent actors,” Fiege told The Huffington Post.
I bet they want it to be a surprise because Marvel is known for hiring big budget actors for their films and JGL is definitely one of those. Vin Diesel, on the other hand, is very open about being signed on as Guardians of the Galaxy member Groot even though Marvel Studios has denied the claim.
Vin Diesel has been reported being seen walking on stilts on the set of Fast & Furious 6 to prepare for his role as Groot, a giant talking tree. I see this as puzzling since Diesel is just a voice actor for the animated character. Groot is also known for only being able to say one thing, which happens to be, “I am Groot.” This might change to give the character more life, but right now I don’t understand why Diesel would be so excited to play such a small roll. It does make sense, though, that Marvel would keep it on a need-to-know basis because they like keeping their films secret until the premiere, but it seems like
Vin Diesel might not have gotten that memo.
