Post Haste: There's a lot of holiday cheer uptown; OU volleyball starts the NCAA tourney

You can see Elf for free on Saturday — twice.

Good morning. Here's what you need to know for Friday, Dec. 4, 2015:

If you're one of the lucky ones, you might be getting out of Athens early next week.

If not, don't fear: There will be more to do than cram for your impending finals.

The Athens Area Chamber of Commerce has a slew of events going on between now and next Friday as part of its annual Uptown For The Holidays campaign.

This Saturday you can ditch the books and head to the Athena Cinema on Court Street for two free screenings of Elf. (You'll need a canned food donation to get in the door, though).

During the Thursday of finals week, you can pop over to The 5 on Court building to pay a visit to Santa Claus between 6 and 8 p.m.

Oh, and there's free parking at the Uptown garage next Thursday and every Saturday this month after 5 p.m.
