Senior libero Meredith Ashy earns her fifth Mid-American Conference East Defensive Player of the Week award.
Senior libero Meredith Ashy has been named Mid-American Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Ashy is coming off a record-setting weekend at the Bobcat Invitational, where she set a school record with 43 digs in one match and also moved into second place in school history with 1,728 digs.
"I think she loves being in that environment,” coach Deane Webb said about Ashy. “You look at her Friday (versus Xavier), we had 4,000 people there, and she sets a program record in digs. As the match went on, she got better and better and better. By the fifth set, she was getting three and four digs per rally sometimes. It was just exceptional, and I know she's going to do the same thing when she goes home this weekend."
This is her fifth time receiving the award.
Ashy will return to her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky to compete in the Active Ankle Challenge.
