It’s a weekend committed to endurance as the men and women’s cross country team travel not only to South Bend, Ind., but to Cedarville, Ohio as well.
Friday and Saturday consist of the Notre Dame Invitational and All-Ohio Championships respectively.
The top twelve men and women for each team will be running in the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday.
Senior Tyler Ames and junior Emily Pifer, key runners for the Bobcats, rejoin the team after not running in the first three meets this season.
Ohio coach Clay Calkins said he is thrilled to have both runners competing again.
“Having Emily back is very important and gives a big boost to the women’s team. Tyler gives a boost to the team as well, especially being our team captain,” Calkins said.
Each team is keying in on the Notre Dame meet, hoping to get as many NCAA points possible for Regionals in November.
The All-Ohio Championships will be a lower-key meet in which the men and women’s team will be running three athletes each.
“We’re focusing on what is best for our future, so strategy plays into our decisions a lot,” Calkins said. “If we perform like last week, we should be in good shape.”
