From the Editor's Desk: The end's finally here - let's all grab a drink

Hey, friends,

This is the 139th and final edition of The Post for the 2013-14 school year.

It’s also the last edition during my tenure at Ohio University.

The end was always inevitable, and I always knew exactly when it would come — May 3 has been marked since August. You’d think that somewhere along the way, sometime amid those 138 papers that I woulda thought of what to write for No. 139.

But I’ve always been an 11th-hour kinda guy. And it still feels somewhat surreal.

I would be remiss if I neglected to thank the many people who have helped ensure the paper hits newsstands each morning. The Post is as much a news outlet as it is a learning center — a crazy, chaotic learning center that’s on fire half the time.

But for all the fires we’ve put out and all the burns we’ve nursed throughout the year, we’ve also illuminated problems and lit a fire underneath those who can affect change.

I am very proud of the work The Post’s staff has done this year, and I will never forget all we’ve been through. It’s the end of our run, the jig is up, the real world awaits.

I need a drink — we ALL need a drink. But before we do, please raise your glass:

Here’s to the success, the scoops, the errors both major and mild. Here’s to the lessons, the laughs, the late nights and The Great Server Crash of 2013.

Here’s to lifelong friendships, five-column photos and deadlines almost missed.

Here’s to cartoon critiques from BJ Nutter, missing class to stay at work and too much Mumford and Sons.

Here’s to tanking GPAs for experience in a sinking industry, skirmishes with Legal Affairs and too little sleep too often.

Here’s to not changing a thing.
