Police Blotter: Man cited after being found on top of College Gate

OUPD found a man standing on top of College Gate on Monday night. Officers also cited a man for trying to steal a sign from Transportation and Parking Services.

Walking past Ohio University's College Gate about 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 12, one might have noticed something was different — it could have been the man standing on top of the gate.

Last Monday, Ohio University Police Department officers observed a 18-year-old male climbing up and standing on the College Gate.

When officers made contact with the subject, he was issued a citation for disorderly conduct and was released from the scene. The student appeared in court on Oct. 15.

On Oct. 18, OUPD officers noticed a group of two males and two females walking near the corner of Poplar Drive and Race Street. However, one of the males in particular stood out because he was carrying a sign from Transportation and Parking Services, according to the police report.

After officers made contact the group, the subject tried to put the sign down without being noticed.

Once the officers began speaking to the man, they noticed he had watery, bloodshot eyes and was giving off an odor of an intoxicating beverage, according to the report.

It was determined that the subject had been drinking at The Crystal.

The male was cited for underage consumption and is scheduled to appear in Athens County Municipal Court on Thursday, Oct. 22.

On Oct. 14, the Athens County Sheriff's Office received a report of damages done to a garage. When deputies arrived on the scene, the homeowner advised them that they had found what appeared to be a bullet hole in the garage door.

The homeowner was unsure about when the incident occurred and who might've caused it. They asked for a report to be done for insurance purposes. No further action was taken, according to the report.

Again on Oct. 14, the sheriff's office received report about an argument between neighbors.

Two residents of Sycamore Street in Glouster reported that they were threatened and cursed at by a neighbor after their puppy had gotten loose and wandered onto his property.

They also specified that this was not the first time of an aggressive concurrence. The residents wanted to file a report in the event that they continue to have problems with the neighbor.
