Country Night Lights is returning as a two-day festival on Sept. 23 and Sept. 24, 2016.
Country Night Lights, a music festival in Athens hosted by Prime Social Group, will continue for a second year and is expanding to become a two-day festival.
“That’s kind of the trend with country music. People expect to come out and camp there, so that caters more to that demographic,” Adam Lynn, a member of Prime Social Group and a founder of Country Night Lights, said.
The event will take place at The Venue on SR 56 from Sept. 23 to Sept. 24 and includes two nights of camping, according to its website. Lynn said Sept. 23 will essentially be a half-day and Saturday will be a full day of the festival.
The group is currently working on creating the lineup, and Lynn said, it will likely be announced at the end of January or early February.
The first festival included headliner Sam Hunt along with country Easton Corbin, Chase Bryant and more.
“Country Night Lights went really smoothly,” Lynn said. “I think the community really embraced it, and it brought out, not just the OU students, but Athens in general and Southeast, Ohio. We feel like a lot of people came. We feel really good with how things turned out from last year.”
