Women's Basketball Notebook: Bobcats face off against Eastern Kentucky

Pregame

Ohio (1-5) entered Thursday's contest seeking its 461st win in program history against the Eastern Kentucky Lady Colonels (5-3). The Bobcats were riding a five game losing streak heading into the game.

Ohio coach Semeka Randall was eager to get a win before the game.

“It’s very important to stop this losing streak,” coach Semeka Randall said. “It will help our confidence, make us feel better about one another and help us not to think the worst. It would be great to get a win, because we can start to put things back in perspective and get things rolling.”

She also mentioned what Ohio would need to do in order to get the win.

“It’s going to be a conscious effort to box out and always have a body on somebody,” said Randall. “Knowing they have shot blockers, we’ll have to make sure to keep putting pump fakes while going through the lane.”

First Half

Ohio's starters in the game are Erin Bailes, Kiyanna Black, Shavon Robinson, Ashley Fowler and Tina Fisher.

Black and Bailes are making their first starts of the season after Randall decided to alter the lineup.

Black's dish to Baldwin to tie the game on a layup at the end of the half was huge for the Bobcats' confidence.

Ohio was playing solid team basketball at that point, hustling for rebounds and capitalzing on shot attempts, which is something that it hadn't done very often this season.
