Middle school girl helps build playground

From old basketball hoops and jungle gyms to new tetherball courts and surge swings, Trimble Middle School playground equipment got a face-lift, with the help of a 13-year-old girl.

Megan Nichols, a seventh-grade student, participated with her advanced math class in a project to design a new playground for the school.

Trimble Local School District was one of about 140 districts in Ohio to receive money from the Ohio School Facilities Commission a few years ago, said spokesman Rick Savors.
