The measure is an anti-monopoly amendment proposed by Ohio’s General Assembly.
We at The Post are not in the business of bullying, which is exactly what Issue 2 does. The measure was created in a pretty specific manner that targets Issue 3.
Though we are also opposed to Issue 3, we cannot condone the GOP-led legislature to openly shoot down amendments it does not approve of by way of another amendment.
Issue 2, for the record, would not affect any monopoly language already in place in Ohio’s constitution, but would affect changes to the constitution enacted during the same cycle as Issue 2. This was clearly done so with the intent of halting Issue 3.
The Republicans in Ohio are steadfast in their beliefs about marijuana. Those ideologies are the only reason that Issue 2 exists in the first place.
Because of this, we cannot support Issue 2 and instead urge Ohio’s lawmakers to bring themselves into the 21st Century and recognize marijuana initiatives as a thing of the present.
