An alarm that sounded on West Green at about 10 a.m. Monday morning was false, according to a tweet from the Ohio University Police Department.
The alarm was identified as part of the "Athens Campus outdoor emergency notification system" in a text message sent to students.
OUPD says there is currently no emergency on West Green.

"OUPD did not have involvement with the alarm this morning, other than helping get the word out that it was a malfunction," Lieutenant Tim Ryan said in an email.
