The outage lasted almost two hours before power was restored.
Power also went out across campus in November due to another squirrel-related incident.
About half an hour after the power went out, Ohio University sent out an email acknowledging the issue stating that "crews have been called in" and an update would be issued at 4:30 p.m.
Alden Library and Baker Center remained in operation with power during the outage, according to an email from Sarah Olesky, director of Residential Education.
The university sent out a second email telling students to contact Facilities Management at 740-593-2911 if any there were any problems.
