In their Crimes of the Month report, the Athens County Crime Solvers Anonymous detailed two open cases of assault and two open cases of theft from the Athens Police Department as well as a case of breaking and entering from the Ohio University Police Department.
The Athens County Crime Solvers Anonymous is offering up to $2,000 in cash rewards for information pertaining to five cases that are still under investigation.
The organization released its Crimes of the Month report for April, detailing two open cases of assault and two open cases of theft from the Athens Police Department. There is also an open case, of breaking and entering, from the Ohio University Police Department.
The assaults took place during OU’s Sibs Weekend in early February, according to the report.
The first took place on Stewart Street, when a man noticed a group of four males seemingly harassing two other individuals. When the man interjected, the group allegedly proceeded to assault him. The victim apparently sustained substantial injuries to his face that required surgery.
The second incident occurred shortly after the first incident. An individual was walking down College Street, where he was met by a red sedan, according to the report.
The individual exchanged words with passengers in the vehicle, who then pulled over and exited the vehicle.
The four men assaulted the pedestrian, who sustained injuries to his face that later required surgery, the report said.
About a month later, an unknown male broke into Mountain Laurel Gifts, 25 S. Court St.
On March 6 at about 11:15 p.m., the man forcibly entered the shop through the back door, the report stated.

The man spent a long period of time stealing a large amount of jewelry, which he placed in a unique leather backpack before fleeing the scene.
The second theft occurred at Skin Hooked Tattoo, 8 N. Court St., on March 9 at 2 p.m. and again on March 10 at 11:30 a.m.
The suspect or suspects forcibly entered the tattoo shop through the front door and proceeded to steal various pieces of equipment as well as assorted jewelry, the report stated.
Additionally, OUPD is seeking information regarding a case of breaking and entering that occurred Feb. 26 in MacKinnon Hall, 70 S. Green Dr.
South Green employees discovered that an unknown suspect or suspects entered the mailroom and opened numerous pieces of mail, the report stated.
