COLIN STOUT

Coolville man pleads guilty of robbery, assault

The third of four men charged with attacking and robbing an elderly woman last year changed his plea to guilty Monday and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Colin Stout, 21, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery, two counts of robbery, two counts of felonious assault, two counts of kidnapping, one count of attempted murder, one count of abduction, one count of tampering with evidence, one count of theft of drugs, one count of theft from the elderly and one count of theft as part of a plea agreement with the Athens County Prosecutor’s Office.

Athens County Court of Common Pleas Judge Michael Ward sentenced Stout to 15 years in prison.

The charges stem from a Jan. 24, 2012 incident when Stout, Brandon Baker, 20, Christopher Fleming, 21, and Cody Stout, 24, drove to the Coolville residence of Ota Vincent, 82.

Colin Stout and one of the other men entered the residence and severely beat Vincent, stabbed her and stole items from her home, according to a press release from the Athens County Prosecutor’s Office.

Vincent was transported to Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg before being moved to a Columbus hospital for months of rehabilitation.

Colin and Cody Stout are from Coolville, and Baker and Fleming are from Belpre.

Fleming and Cody Stout also took plea agreements and were each sentenced to nine years and nine months in prison. Colin Stout was sentenced to 15 years, and Blackburn said he “will oppose any attempts for early release.”

Baker’s case is still pending, and his trial is set to begin Feb. 19.

Colin Stout could have been sentenced to a maximum of 94 years in prison and a maximum fine of $200,000 if convicted of all 14 counts at a trial, according to the Ohio Revised Code.
