106 years ago today, the National Biscuit Company (known today as Nabisco) filed a trademark for a new cookie called an “oreo biscuit,” and America’s favorite cookie was born.
Here are a few fun facts about Oreos:
- Since 1919, more than 450 billion Oreos have been sold
- You can purchase Oreos in more than 100 countries around the world
- Oreos consist of 71 percent cookie and 29 percent creme filling
